The Holiday Festivities of La Plana revolve around the Monastery: La Mare de Déu dels Àngels during the first week of August. This Monastery was built in 1962 on the foundation of an old Sanctuary in which the "La Virgen de los Ángeles" painting was discovered. Formerly during this time of year, many La Plana homes filled with friends and family members who visited here to celebrate these holidays. The celebration of the Mass and the Procession were the two central events followed by a popular street dance. Today, these holiday festivities still remain faithful to the past. The popular street dance, the games, the "despertà” (firecracker wake-up activities) with “dolçaina and tabalet” musical instruments or the snacks with "coca-maria" and "mistela" (cake and muscatel wine) are several of the activities in its Festivity program.
