La Granadella Forest Park
South of the Xàbia coast, we find the impressive “green lung” with approx. 700 hectares which La Granadella Forest currently represents. Low scrublands and pasture bunch grasses. We find two very different types of scrublands depending on the rocky substratum where they live and they provide a mosaic colour to the zone. The French lavender shrubs (espliego dentado) grow in the calcareous zones where the prevailing colour is blue and white and in the marly limestone zones, there are species such as the Anthyllis cytisoides shrub (albaida) and the white rosemary shrub (romero blanco) among others where the predominating colours are yellow and pink. We also highlight the bunch grasses where we can find abundant Iberian-Levante endemism known as Centaurea and the Orchids, the majority of which are rare in the Valencian territory such as the Pyramidal Orchid or the Dark Bee Orchid (orquídea abejera). Regarding its fauna, we highlight the presence of an exclusive Granadella insect, Amaladera longipenis, a beetle which lives in the vertical walls which descend into the sea.
The PR CV-354, included in the Xarxa d'Espais Naturals de Xàbia, is a good opotunity to discover the astonishing landscape and coastline or Xàbia. From the turistic lookouts of the Granadella and Castell de la Granadella we can enjoy the views of this area.
