Maria Beneyto is one of the most important poets in contemporary Valencian literature. In a context of fierce censorship and persistent repression, Beneyto broke the conservative models assigned to the traditional female identity and duplicated her poetic and narrative voice in an extraordinary way.

The itinerant exhibition: «Maria Beneyto: vida herida de letra», organized by the Valencian Academy of Language, with texts by Josep Ballester and designed by the Studio: GimenoGràfic, is comprised by 12 panels that explore the life and literary career of the Writer in 2025. In addition to winning diverse literary awards, Maria Beneyto (Valencia, 1920-2011), was also distinguished with the Valencian Literature Award from the Valencian Regional Government (1992), the International Award for Female Worker from the Valencian Parliament (2000), the Isabel de Villena Award (2008) and the the Lluís Guarner Award (2009).

The celebration of the María Beneyto Year is an ideal opportunity to discover the life and workds by an outstanding figure in 20th century Valencian literatura and especially to allow young people to find out more about her.
