Diània is a steep country, with castles towering over the rocky crags; fortifications that formerly guarded the roads and territory. They built camps, housed settlements and defended the people of the land. Witnesses of human violence and scenarios of war’s cruel dialectics, the castles guard the secrets of past events: the fossilized history of our landscapes. The majority of the "diànic" castles are Andalusian, fortifications suspended on the cliffs, at heights above rugged rocky crags that made them invincible.
