At the end of the 17th century, it became fashionable among the European aristocracy, especially the British, to send their children on an apprenticeship trip to the Old Continent. The aim was to discover other countries, facilitate contact with the great cultures of the past and fulfil a necessary requirement for their cultural and social education before becoming adults.
